Senior DirectorMr. Leckie is a civil engineer with over 30 years of experience specializing in the investigation and restoration of structural and architectural projects in institutional, commercial, residential and petrochemical settings with regard to the legal and insurance industries. His training and expertise are used to address technical issues in the areas of design and construction failure, aging of buildings, use of building materials and omissions or errors in design drawings. Mr. Leckie has considerable experience in the restoration and renovation of old buildings, as well as residences, schools, universities, hospitals, apartments, retail warehouses, offices, sports/recreation and municipal buildings.
He has addressed such structural concerns as the investigation and restoration of foundation settlement, basement wall and slab cracking, slab on grade settlement or heave, slab and beam failure or adverse deflection, concrete shrinkage cracking pre-stress and post-tensioned slabs and beams, roof structure failure or adverse defection, wall cladding attachment failure (including glazing) and severe wind and tornado damage.
Mr. Leckie has experience in architectural issues such as drywall and concrete block shrinkage, redevelopment of warehouse buildings involving inventory and assessment of structure of new use, fireproofing, sprinkler systems and improved exiting (including elevators). He has been involved in the investigation of roofing design due to failure of roofing material, jointing, curbing or poor maintenance causing water penetration and interior damage. Some of his special projects have included the inspection and detection of low-strength concrete resulting from inferior design or construction.
Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Mr. Leckie was involved in the design and fast track engineering of industrial/architectural projects, investigations and planning studies in Canada, USA and the Far East. He has been responsible for over 1,500 projects, including over 250 investigations. Equipment design and investigation, industrial lifting devises, tractor removal, bridge cranes, boom and telescopic cranes, lift slab field manufacture and lift technology.
Mr. Leckie is registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas Professional Engineers - Member number – 101146, and in Alberta, Canada, Province of Alberta Member Number - APEGGA - M15298.
