Laura A.Wojcik, Ph.D., P.E.
Vice President, BiomechanicsDr. Wojcik is an engineer based in Packer Engineering’s office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her areas of specialization include biomechanics and mechanical engineering, with specific expertise in the analysis of traumatic injuries associated with transportation, industrial machinery, recreational activities and equipment, consumer products, and falls. She has additional experience in related areas including human injury tolerance, accident reconstruction, human locomotion and balance, machine guarding, geriatric biomechanics, rigid body dynamics, and dynamic systems modeling. Dr. Wojcik’s research has included experimental and analytical studies of human motion, computational modeling of the musculoskeletal system, and statistical data analysis. This research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Whitaker Foundation, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Dr. Wojcik consulted as a Senior Engineer with Exponent, Inc., in the areas of biomechanics and mechanical engineering. Prior to her consulting career, she was an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech, where she performed original research and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in statics, dynamics, structural vibrations, dynamic systems modeling, musculoskeletal biomechanics, and biomedical engineering. Before her faculty appointment, Dr. Wojcik was a Whitaker Fellow and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Wojcik is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Michigan (No. 6201048642).
