Peter Schubert, Ph.D.
Senior Director, Research and DevelopmentDr. Peter J. Schubert is an Electrical Engineer with over 20 years experience in microelectronics manufacturing, in computer software and system design. His experience includes automotive electronic control module design, model-based design validation, and integration of statistical tools for problem solving in manufacturing.
With direct experience in advanced development and 8 years on the factory floor, Peter has designed manufacturing processes for chip-based MEMS accelerometers and pressure sensors. He specified equipment and developed processes on etch hoods, tube furnaces, and epitaxial deposition reactors worth over a million dollars. He has a strong background in statistical process control, quality engineering, electrical test, yield improvement and scrap reduction, including a Green Belt in the Six-Sigma methodology. He has created, and validated, computer algorithms including crash sensing, occupant detection, human-machine interface, and automotive body computer applications. Peter’s algorithms are currently used in vehicles on three continents. He applies model-based development and Artifical Intelligence optimization techniques to increase engineering productivity and maximize product performance.
Dr. Schubert has over 25 Patents granted, and more than 50 technical publications. He is an instructor with the Society of Automotive Engineers, teaching a course in algorithms and sensors for rollover events. He has taught various aspects of electrical, computer, and systems engineering to over 1000 people world-wide using courses he created and delivered.
Dr. Schubert is the Principal Investigator on a breakthrough method for hydrogen storage using porous silicon, which he invented. He has been PI for 3 NASA-funded projects, all based on his inventions. Dr. Schubert is PI for a USDA grant to convert agricultural residues (crop waste) into useful power to help American farmers achieve greater energy independence. Dr. Schubert joined Packer Engineering in 2006 as a member of the Research and Development Team. He is available now for consulting, training and technical support.
