Thomas J. Kuhn

Technologist

Mr. Kuhn has extensive and diverse experience in tool design and fabrication, welding, machining, agricultural machinery, machinery surveying, building and construction, field investigations, site documentation, video, lab testing, non-destructive testing and photography. Mr. Kuhn has assisted engineers and architects with laboratory and field investigations and testing. Investigations have included a multitude of construction systems, including Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) wall claddings, masonry, roofing, glass-curtain walls and steel and wood structures.

Since joining Packer Engineering in 1984, Mr. Kuhn has managed the machine shop and is the outside tooling liaison for specialized machine assemblies used for the destructive and non-destructive component evaluation studies. He is a certified welder and is a licensed test driver for busses and large trucks. He has trained and applied optical surveying skills to large machinery installations, as well as evaluating machinery for prolonged function capabilities. In addition, he has extensive experience in vehicle preparation for structural assessment within laboratory facilities or in-field, on-site performance studies.

Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Mr. Kuhn was employed at DuPage Precision as Foreman of the Assembly Department for hydraulic components, such as cylinders, pumps and gear box assemblies. His other duties included quality control, machining, welding, millwright work, and production tooling. Additionally, Mr. Kuhn has over thirty years of experience with farm equipment machinery, including tractors, implements, product transfer mechanisms and storage facilities.
